Jane Gray - Artist & Activist
I have always been a maker. My practice as an artist and weaver is in direct response to nature and my environment. Being at one with nature aligns with my identity and sense of place here on the planet.
As the founder of the Nettle Revolution I am an activist, championing the use of sustainable materials and the circular economy and especially the potential that this humble plant has in improving our health and the wellbeing of the planet.
I design and create my own products and artwork for sale and run workshops to teach and encourage others to do similarly.
Theo Paphitis Award for Nettle Revolution
In February 2024, Theo Paphitis honoured Nettle Revolution for their dedication to sustainability in Cornwall. Through their advocacy for nettles, they not only dispel misconceptions but also raise awareness about environmental conservation and health advantages.

Jane Gray Artist's Manifesto - Founder of Nettle Revolution
As an artist and guardian of the natural world, I choose to live and create by a set of guiding principles that honour both creativity and responsibility. I invite you to consider these values and, where they resonate, embrace them in your own life and practice.
Nature as Teacher and Guide
I allow the force of nature to shape me into a force for nature. I listen, observe, and learn from the living world, letting its intelligence inform my art and my actions.
Creating in Harmony
I work in deep harmony with the environment, creating a legacy rooted in respect, reciprocity, and care for the Earth. My practice honours traditional skills while innovating for a regenerative future.
Responsible Materials
I seek found and foraged materials, alongside responsibly sourced fibres, always striving for the lowest environmental impact. Nettles, abundant, resilient, and healing, are at the heart of my practice: a gift of fibre, food, and medicine.
Innovation Through Art
As an artist, I deliver inspired, imaginative, and sustainable ideas that demonstrate a way forward. My work is both creative expression and environmental action.
Collaboration and Community
I believe in the power of collaboration. By working together as artists, makers, communities, and with nature, we can care for the planet and nurture collective change.
Leading by Example
I lead by example, living close to nature and demonstrating a lifestyle that benefits the planet and future generations. My daily choices reflect my values.
Youthful Energy and Gratitude
I embrace a youthful attitude, reflecting my energy, curiosity, and optimism. Each morning, I begin in gratitude and set three clear intentions, grounding myself in personal accountability, focus, and growth.
Spreading the Nettle Revolution
I am a joyful ambassador for nettles, sharing their environmental power, soft sustainable fibres, and holistic health benefits. Through workshops, talks, exhibitions, and digital platforms, I spread this knowledge far and wide.
Documenting for Legacy
I document my creative journey with care and integrity, leaving a record of my actions for the greater good. This is my gift to future generations, especially my grandchildren, a testament that I chose to act, to care, and to make a difference.
An invitation request for your valued support
Hi, it is so good to see you here.
As you can see as a founder of Nettle Revolution, I am keen to grow awareness and the momentum for a nature filled lifestyle. One that respects the use of all earth’s resources in a circular way, to enable
us to become a zero-waste planet.
I give gratitude daily for the beautiful environment that we can still enjoy as I remain active and resolute in helping others to benefit from growing a ‘circular economy’. All activity that advances a greener
lifestyle for all to be a part of nature and not apart from nature will benefit the healing of our planet.
I, Jane Gray, have pledged to donate the rest of my life to be kind, caring and considerate for the future and welfare of not only my grandchildren but also to have as low impact on our soil as possible. And through my innovative artwork I hope to progress awareness to help others do the same.
By doing what I do, I choose to demonstrate the infinite ways we can adapt and make the changes necessary to restore and build a better world for mankind.
If you like me feel my work is important, I ask for your support in any way you wish to provide, be that by a monetary Donation or other means to encourage my wellbeing and active service as an artist.
Thank you!
