There is a quiet shift happening. You can feel it in the way people are beginning to question what they consume, how they live, and what it truly means to be well. It is not loud or forceful, but it is steady and undeniable. A turning. A remembering. The Germans have a word for this: Zeitgeist, meaning the spirit of the time. And right now, the spirit of our time is asking us to return.
For too long, we have lived at a distance from the natural world. Food has become packaged, medicine has become prescribed without question, and materials have been stripped of their origin stories. Yet something is changing. People are seeking slower ways of living, honest and nourishing food, and a deeper connection to land, seasons, and self. This is not a passing trend, but a response, a deep, collective knowing that something essential has been lost and can be found again.
The ancient nettle is a plant that has been present throughout history. Often overlooked, sometimes feared, and frequently misunderstood, it remains one of the most generous plants we have. Rich in nutrients, supportive to the body, strong in fibre, and vital for biodiversity, it does not demand attention. It simply grows, offers, and endures. In many ways, the nettle reflects exactly what this moment in time is calling for: resilience, simplicity, strength, and healing.
Nettle Revolution was not created in pursuit of a business idea. It grew slowly and organically through years of curiosity, making, foraging, and listening. Looking back, each step along this path has led to this point, to this work, at this time. It has become clear that Nettle Revolution is part of a wider shift. It sits within the Zeitgeist, offering a return to natural fibres and sustainable making, a reconnection to plants as allies in wellbeing, a space to slow down and engage the senses, and a reminder that healing can be simple, accessible, and shared.
This movement goes beyond trends. It is about remembering what is already known: the body responds to nature, the hands find meaning in making, the mind settles when life slows down, and the earth provides what is needed when we learn how to receive it. Practices such as foraging, herbal infusions, and working with natural fibres are not new ideas. They are ancient ways of living that are returning at a time when they are most needed.
There was a defining moment at the end of 2025, while in Glastonbury, when the words came clearly and without hesitation: “I am a healer.” At the time, it felt both unexpected and deeply certain. Since then, through my guidance and the sharing of nettle knowledge, I have supported many people to experience a noticeable easing of pain and discomfort associated with arthritis, menopause, burns, allergies, and more.
Through my talks, nettle tea gatherings, and hands-on making workshops, and with gentle encouragement and guidance, people begin to gain confidence in their own ability to take back control of their own health. This comes from remembering and revisiting the wisdom we once lived by, using what grows naturally around us. Our free pharmaceutical garden is at our fingertips. By sharing knowledge, skills, and simple practices, I aim to empower others with the confidence to care for themselves more naturally, as a preventative health measure, reducing their reliance on systems that can often feel distant or overwhelming, and instead reconnecting them with something far more immediate, accessible, and deeply rooted.
This work continues to show that healing does not need to be complicated. It can be found in the simplest of acts: holding a nettle without fear, preparing and drinking a nourishing infusion, sitting quietly while making with the hands, and reconnecting with the natural rhythms of life.
The nettle itself offers guidance. It reminds us that what we once rejected may be exactly what we need. It invites us to look again, to approach differently, and to engage with respect rather than fear. In doing so, it offers strength.
If the Zeitgeist is the spirit of our time, then perhaps the question is not why nettles, but why it has taken so long to return to them. Nettle Revolution is an invitation to step back into a relationship with the natural world, to rediscover the value of simple and honest materials, and to support wellbeing in ways that feel grounded and real. It is also an invitation to recognise that this path is not new. It has simply been waiting.
