Jane is 67 years young. She wears a deep pinky/purple linen dress and holds a few fresh daffodils, whilst standing by her patio doors in Cornwall. She has a shiny nettle necklace adorning her decolletage.

Who Is Jane the Nettle Lady

Jane the Nettle Lady is many things at once.
She is a daughter, sister, cousin, mother, grandmother, niece, auntie, friend, dog mama, good neighbour, colleague, employee, teacher, wife, and entrepreneur.

She is a woman shaped by 67 years of lived experience, growth, resilience, and deep connection to nature.

Her identity has never been one single role. It has been a lifetime of evolving through relationships, responsibilities, creativity, hardship, love, and purpose.

A Life Built Through Real Experience

Jane’s story is grounded in real life, not theory.
Family life, working life, caring roles, creative practice, and personal challenges have all contributed to who she is today. Each season of life has expanded her wisdom and strengthened her compassion for others.

She was an employee for many years, contributing quietly, learning, observing, and gaining life skills through real-world experience. Now she stands as an entrepreneur, building her own path through Nettle Revolution, proving that reinvention is possible at any age and that she is not ready for retirement, but ready for purpose-led work.

With the perspective of nearly seven decades, she understands that ageing is not about slowing down. It is about deepening. Her experiences as a mother, grandmother, wife, colleague, employee, and entrepreneur have shaped a woman who leads with empathy, practical knowledge, and lived insight.

The Maker and Nature Educator

Publicly known as Jane Gray, she is a textile designer, weaver, and founder of Nettle Revolution, a nature-led wellbeing practice based in Cornwall. She returned to higher education later in life, gaining a BA (Hons) in Textile Design, demonstrating that learning and reinvention are possible at any stage of life.

Working from her studio inspired by the Cornish landscape, she creates handwoven textiles, natural fibre pieces, and educational workshops that reconnect people with the land and traditional knowledge. Her work focuses especially on the stinging nettle, a plant often misunderstood yet deeply beneficial.

Why “The Nettle Lady”

The name grew naturally from years of research, foraging, weaving, teaching, and advocating for the value of nettles in fibre, food, and wellbeing.

Jane has spent years studying nettles and sharing their uses through workshops, talks, creative practice, and community engagement. Her work highlights nettles as a sustainable plant that supports biodiversity, traditional craft, and natural nourishment.

Like the nettle itself, her life reflects resilience. What others overlook, she sees as powerful.

Mission and Message

Jane’s mission is to share her knowledge with the world that nettles can nourish the body on a cellular level, supporting vitality, minerals, and natural resilience. She describes this as switching the light on to illuminate health from within.

Her approach blends nature, creativity, and holistic awareness. Through nettle infusions, fibre work, education, storytelling, and workshops, she encourages people to reconnect with simple, mineral-rich, nature-based practices that support wellbeing in a modern, stressful world.

From Life’s Challenges to Purpose

Jane openly acknowledges that her journey has included personal difficulties, emotional challenges, and periods of deep reflection. Rather than turning away from these experiences, she turned toward nature as a source of grounding and healing.

Creative practice became restoration.
Nature became a teacher.
Nettles became a symbol of strength and nourishment.

This transformation led to the creation of Nettle Revolution, a platform dedicated to wellbeing, sustainability, and nature connection.

The Teacher, Colleague, and Community Voice

As a teacher, workshop facilitator, colleague, and neighbour, Jane shares knowledge in accessible, sensory ways that support focus, mindfulness, and wellbeing. Her workshops often combine foraging, weaving, observation, and reflective practices, particularly supporting those who benefit from hands-on, nature-based learning environments.

She is known for her warmth, creativity, and dedication to helping others rediscover the healing relationship between people and plants.

Legacy and Grandmother Wisdom

At the heart of Jane’s work is legacy. As a mother and grandmother, she is deeply aware of the world future generations will inherit. Her work is rooted in sustainability, respect for nature, and the passing on of practical knowledge that nourishes both body and mind.

She lives with the intention of leaving behind not just creations, but understanding. Knowledge of plants. Respect for nature. Awareness of health.

The True Essence of Jane the Nettle Lady

Jane the Nettle Lady is not a character or a persona. She is a lived story of resilience, creativity, service, and nature-led wisdom.

A former employee who chose a new path.
An entrepreneur not ready for retirement.
A lifelong learner who embraced education later in life.
A grandmother sharing wisdom through nature.
A teacher illuminating the value of overlooked plants.

Above all, she is a woman devoted to showing that something as humble as the nettle can support wellbeing, nourish the body, and gently illuminate a path toward natural, cellular-level health.
