The Nettle Revolution is Here — How I Trusted my Gut Instincts

The Nettle Revolution is Here — How I Trusted my Gut Instincts

For a long time, I’ve felt a deep pull towards nettles. Something inside told me they were more than just a "weed" — they held the key to healing, for both ourselves and the land.
I couldn’t explain it fully — I just knew.

Now, it’s so heartening to see this truth being recognised.
On Rathlin Island, Ireland, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has been planting tonnes of nettle rhizomes to help restore habitat for the endangered corncrake bird.
According to BirdGuides, over 14 tonnes of nettle rhizomes were gathered during winter 2024/25 to create healthier ecosystems. Nettles are being honoured for their powerful role, offering early cover, improving soil health, and supporting biodiversity.

Seeing this fills me with gratitude, not pride, but a deep respect for nature’s wisdom, and a quiet reassurance that sometimes when we follow our instincts, we are simply listening to something greater than ourselves.

The Nettle Revolution isn’t coming — it’s here.
Thank you, nature, for always showing us the way.
